The European Commission has approved four Leader+ rural development programmes in Germany : National Networking Programme (euro 3 million see IP/01/1824) ; Schleswig-Holstein (euro 29.6 million see IP/01/1823) ; North Rhine-Westphalia (euro 13.7 million see IP/01/1820) ; Saxony-Anhalt (euro 34.6 million see IP/01/1821). Welcoming the decisions, Franz Fischler, Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, said : "These programs aim to pilot new ideas to help build a more sustainable society, economy and environment for rural Germany. They aim to improve the quality of life for all those who live in rural areas. Leader + will help to increase the added value of local products and to make the best use of natural and cultural resources."
